What’s in a Name?

February 15, 2019

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet.”

True? Maybe. However, to me, a name and the meaning of the name signify so much more. So why the name Rebekah and grace? Well, as you may have guessed my name is Rebekah. Pretty obvious why it’s in the business name.

But, grace? Why grace?

Before I was born my mother carefully chose my name for the meaning; Rebekah: meaning “bound” Jane: meaning “grace”.

Bound by Grace

As I began to carefully consider this business and what my mission, goals and business model would be, one word kept coming to mind. Grace. Starting a business is tough. Starting a wedding photography business in an oversaturated market isn’t just tough, it’s crazy. There are lots of great photographers. Many with great skill and knowledge. Many with the same style and abilities as I. I knew I had to separate myself from the pack. But how?

I have talent and skill. Yes, but so do many other photographers. Many most certainly more so than I.

I have passion! I love what I do! I spend countless hours learning and perfecting my skill and talent. But, there again, I’m sure every photographer loves what they do and works hard at it.

Me with my husband Gary.

Grace!

Grace is what I need! I know that I can’t truly be successful without grace. The grace of Jesus. The grace of my family. The grace of my clients. The grace I need to show towards others. The grace of time. The grace of finances. I could go on and on but I think you get the point. Ultimately, I know I can’t be successful without Grace. I am and desire to be continually “Bound by Grace”.

So what does the meaning of the name of a wedding photography business have to do you, the bride and groom? I believe it is extremely important that you find a wedding photographer/photography team whose style, values and personality align with yours.

Choosing a wedding photographer is about more than just hiring someone with a camera to document your day. I believe it is extremely important that you find a wedding photographer whose style, values and personality align with yours. Your wedding photographer should be someone who makes you feel comfortable, someone who is the calm during the craziness of a wedding day. I want to be your problem solver, a thoughtful adviser and ultimately a good friend, ensuring the end result is that I have achieved your vision through my lens.
As a visionary with over 7 years experience, I am driven by my passion and desire to understand each individual couple and tell their story in a way that is true and authentic to them.

Enjoy the Journey

I’m excited about this Business Journey and am looking forward to all the amazing couples and families I will meet and the many memories I get to witness and capture along the way. And as for you, enjoy this season of planning! But, also remember that your marriage is more important than the wedding. The wedding will come and go in a matter of hours, but your marriage needs to stand the test of time.

In Grace,

Rebekah Mann
